Weeks before the Surgery

The patient should ideally follow a balanced diet and a good fitness regimen for a few weeks ahead of the surgery in order to improve resilience. The diet can include a higher intake of lean proteins, which will support good healing.
Patients having a habit of smoking will be required to avoid it completely for at least two weeks before the procedure. Alcohol consumption should also be minimized for a few days prior to the eyelid surgery.
If the patient has been taking NSAIDs, blood thinners such as aspirin or oral supplements of vitamin E, these will have to be stopped them a few days before the eyelid lift cosmetic surgery.

In addition, the patient may hire a professional nurse assist with aftercare if they can afford it and if they really think they need to.
On the night before the surgery, the patient should sleep early and stay well-rested. This is not the time to take a trip to Vegas and be returning the night before a surgery of this magnitude. This is not the time to drink and party really hard as well or hard at all.

The Day of Surgery

The following tips may help on the day of the surgery:

• Wash hair and eyebrows thoroughly
• Avoid wearing any makeup or cosmetics
• Do not wear jewelry, contact lenses or false eyelashes
