CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, nonsurgical, and minimally invasive method of fat removal that selectively reduces stubborn fat accumulations in problem areas like the belly, hips, and back, that tend to resist diet and exercise. Dr. Fiala was one of the early adopters of the CoolSculpting technology in Central Florida, so our office has a great deal of experience with this technique.
Requiring little to no downtime, CoolSculpting freezes fat cells, causing their cell walls to crystallize, enabling the contents of these cells to be reabsorbed and removed through the body’s natural channels of elimination. This results in the permanent removal of fat, allowing patients to achieve a better sculpted shape in the treated area, without surgical intervention. It’s a great alternative to liposuction, especially for men and women who have a busy schedule, or who don’t want to have a surgical procedure.
CoolSculpting can be used on many areas of the body. DualSculpting, using our two machines at the same time, combined with the latest “Advantage” applicators, helps reduce treatment times, allowing us to help our patients get in, get out, and get on with their lives. Recovery is easy, with 99% of patients needing no post-op medications at all.

What is Coolsculpting? How Does Coolsculpting Fat Removal Work?
CoolSculpting can be used nearly anywhere on the body where excess fat is detracting from ideal contours. This includes:
• Thighs and buttocks
• Hips and abdomen
• Waist and back
• Chest and arms
• Under the chin
During CoolSculpting treatment, a gentle vacuum is used to draw the fold of fatty tissue in between two cooling panels. Once secured, precisely measured levels of cold energy are directed into the cells, causing them to freeze. Known as cryolipolysis, this causes apoptosis (cell death) and allows for fat to gradually be eliminated from the body.
The efficacy of CoolSculpting is well documented. Several scientific studies have shown an average reduction of 20% in overall fat in the application area following just one treatment. Additional treatments may be needed after four weeks to finalize results depending on the amount of fat being targeted and your ultimate goals.
Initial results should be visible within three to four weeks. However, because CoolSculpting relies on the body to eliminate destroyed fat cells, it may take up to six months for full results to be realized.
CoolSculpting is nonsurgical and minimally invasive, so most patients are able to return to work and resume their regular activities immediately. Some numbness and redness may be present for seven to ten days, but discomfort should not be expected.
The best candidates for CoolSculpting are men and women who are dissatisfied with how their bodies have responded to diet and exercise. If you have stubborn fat deposits and are close to your goal BMI, you may be the ideal candidate for this procedure. During your initial consultation, we will carefully assess your candidacy for CoolSculpting and discuss any other options that may help you reach your goals.
We were one of the first practices in Central Florida to identify CoolSculpting as a helpful treatment – and so, we have more experience with CoolSculpting than virtually anyone else in the area! We know how to use CoolSculpting effectively, and just as importantly, we know when a different procedure – liposuction or tummy tuck, for example – is required to give you the best results.
