CoolSculpting vs Liposuction

CoolSculpting has emerged as one of the more popular non-surgical fat reduction procedures in the US today. Positive patient feedback and safe and predictable outcomes have made it a procedure of choice for many people who are keen to achieve an improved body contour, but do not wish to undergo a surgery.
Fiala Aesthetics Medical Spa, under the leadership and guidance of board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Thomas Fiala, is a premier provider of fat reduction procedures such as CoolSculpting and Vanquish system. The med spa receives patients from Orlando, Altamonte Springs, FL, and nearby areas for these state of the art treatments.

Unique Cooling Approach

CoolSculpting procedure adopts a different and unique approach compared to most other non-invasive fat reduction procedures. While a majority of treatments available today are based on thermal or laser energy, CoolSculpting adopts an entirely reverse approach of freezing off the unwanted fat cells to cause their disintegration and gradual removal from specific targeted areas of the body.
CoolSculpting employs an innovative and patented process designed to lose fat through a focused application of high cooling temperatures. The process is called cryolipolysis, and it allows for the penetration of the cold temperature into the deeper layers of the skin to freeze the targeted fat cells. Fiala Aesthetics Medical Spa provides this treatment to patients in Orlando, Altamonte Springs, FL, and other locations.

CoolSculpting Benefits

Many patients prefer CoolSculpting because the treatment is safe and provides a painless way to achieve their desired aesthetic goals. Potential risks and complications that are generally associated with invasive procedures are entirely avoided with CoolSculpting. For busy people, the procedure is particularly a fantastic choice because it involves little or no downtime. Results are more natural looking because the fat reduction occurs over several months gradually.
Liposuction procedure
Liposuction, on the other hand, is an invasive surgical procedure that involves cutting, stitching, and anesthetizing. The surgical team may use local anesthesia (such as lidocaine), or you’ll be sedated with general anesthesia.
A plastic surgeon makes a small incision and uses a long, narrow suction tool called a cannula to vacuum fat out of a specific area of your body.

How Long Does Each Procedure Take?

CoolSculpting
There is no recovery time necessary for CoolSculpting. One session takes about an hour. You’ll need a few sessions spread out over several weeks to achieve the best results, though you will start to see initial results a few weeks after your first session.
Most people see the full results of CoolSculpting three months after their last procedure.
Liposuction
Most people only need to do one liposuction procedure to see results. Surgery takes one to two hours, depending on the size of the treated area. It’s usually done as an outpatient procedure, meaning you should be able to go home the same day you have surgery.
Recovery time is usually a few days. Always follow your provider’s recommendations for recovery, which may include wearing a special bandage or limiting activities.
You may need to wait 2 to 4 weeks before you can safely resume strenuous activity. It may take several months for the full results to be seen as swelling goes down.

Comparing Results

The results of CoolSculpting and liposuction are very similar. Both procedures are used to permanently remove excess fat from specific body parts such as the belly, thighs, arms and chin, although neither is intended for weight loss.
In fact, results from one 2012 study showed that one year after receiving liposuction, participants had the same amount of body fat they’d had prior to treatment. The fat was just stored in other parts of the body.
Both procedures are comparably effective when it comes to removing fat. Neither procedure can improve the appearance of cellulite or loose skin.
