Facial Liposuction For Your Chin, Neck, & Jawline

The neck and jaw are the most prominent areas of the face. A double chin, fatty deposits, or jowls can adversely affect a person’s appearance, making them look tired and older than their years.
Fatty pockets can develop in the lower face, neck, and chin over time. In general, such fat deposits do not typically metabolize readily or reduce with a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Weight loss also does not have a significant impact on these stubborn areas.
Chin and neck liposuction cosmetic surgery can greatly enhance a person’s feelings of self-confidence and youth.
Chin and Neck Liposuction for Double Chin Removal
Regardless of a person’s age, the presence of a double chin can distract from an otherwise appealing face. The skin may become saggy and fat may accumulate in the front of the neck. This fullness is commonly known as a “double chin.”
Liposuction can effectively remove the fat leading to the appearance of the double chin. In this procedure, the surgeon inserts a thin tube known as a cannula into the fatty area.
They will dislodge the fat with the cannula and suction it out. Skin with adequate elasticity may constrict and tighten by itself. Otherwise, the patient may require a neck lift, which is a procedure to tighten the neck skin.
Patients can undergo chin, neck and jawline liposuction under local anesthesia. The recovery is fast, and a majority of people resume routine activities within a few days.
Chin and Neck Liposuction for Men and Women
Chin and neck liposuction is a suitable procedure for both men and women. When fat accumulates in the lower facial area, a double chin or jowls can develop causing the entire face to appear older.
Chin and neck liposuction can successfully remove the excess fat under the jowls, chin, and neck. This creates a lifting effect on the face and restores a youthful facial appearance.
This cosmetic surgery procedure enhances the jawline and facial features to appear more aesthetically appealing and balanced.
Chin and Neck Liposuction Procedure
- At the outset of the procedure, a plastic surgeon or surgical nurse will prepare the patient’s chin and neck by sterilizing and draping the site. The surgeon will then use a pen to mark the area.
- The patient will be given local or sedation anesthesia. If liposuction is performed on smaller areas such as the chin and neck, the surgeon may use local anesthesia. The surgeon and patient will discuss the appropriate anesthetic to be used during the procedure beforehand during the consultation process. The patient may also receive a sedative at this point.
- After the area is prepped and the anesthetic takes effect, the surgeon will commence the procedure by placing a tiny incision and inserting a thin tube (cannula) connected to a suction tube into the treatment areas. Using a suction procedure, the surgeon will “vacuum” the excess fat from the treatment areas.
The time taken for the surgery will depend on the number of treatment areas and the extent of the procedure.
Safety of Chin and Neck Liposuction
The risk of complications in liposuction surgery are higher when a substantial area of the body is being treated, or when a large amount of fat is being eliminated during a single procedure.
Liposuction risks are generally lesser when a smaller area is being treated. Therefore, chin and neck liposuction surgery is quite safe.
