What is the Infra-scapular Back?

This is the region right below the bra on the back. The fat present in this area is in the form of a subcutaneous layer that doesn’t have well-defined deeper fat compartments. The area bulges more conspicuously when one wears a bra.

Some women are genetically predisposed to collecting fat in this area. Obesity can cause the back to store more fat and the skin to bunch into parallel rolls of fat. Tumescent liposuction cosmetic surgery with microcannulas can remove this unappealing localized bra fat.

Liposuction Procedure

Series of tiny incisions will be made by the surgeon at the target area. Cannula will be inserted in the incision area to gently suction fat out of the body. In some cases, vibration or UV light may be used for heating and melting the fat. Heating also helps in tightening the skin.

Patients generally get this procedure done with regional or local anesthesia. It takes about 1 – 2 hours to complete the fat reduction plastic surgery procedure depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed.

Post-Operative Care

Post-operative care only involves covering with super-absorbent pads. These will be held in place using torso compression garment. You won’t need extra tight compression. Residual blood-tinged anesthetic solution will be expelled during respiration and other routine activities.

Suitable Candidates

Ideal candidates would be in good overall health. They would preferably not be smokers. Liposuction for eliminating back fat is neither a skin tightening procedure, nor a weight loss procedure. Fat is eliminated from specific body areas for creating a more sculpted and toned body shape.

Patients with excess skin as a result of rapid weight loss may want to consider another procedure for skin tightening.
