Latisse™ Eyelash Growth

Eyelash extension procedure. Beautiful female eyes with long lashes, closeupBeautiful eyelashes enhance any woman’s eyes. Lash enhancement dates back to 4,000 BC when Egyptian women applied a mixture of soot and other dark compounds to their eyelashes and brows. Today, mascara is the most widely used makeup product, with about 83% of American women using it. In the search for longer, fuller lashes, women also try techniques like false eyelashes and eyelash extensions. False eyelashes are short-lived and easily separated from the eyelid, while eyelash extensions are expensive. Now there is a better option through a prescription treatment called LATISSE™. FDA-approved LATISSE is the first and only eyelash treatment approved to help grow your own longer, thicker, fuller, and darker eyelashes.

Fiala Aesthetics Medical Spa located in Altamonte Springs, Florida provides LATISSE™ to the Central Florida area and beyond. Call us at 407-339-3222 to schedule a free consultation and learn more.

What is Latisse?

LATISSE is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for growing inadequate eyelashes longer, fuller, and darker.  Once you have achieved the results you want, you may find that you can back off from nightly use to every other night or every third night and still have fabulous looking eyelashes.

LATISSE is a prescription-only topical treatment made by Allergan, the company that brought us BOTOX® Cosmetic. The active ingredient in LATISSE, bimatoprost, encourages an increase in the duration of the growth phase of your lashes, as well as the quantity and pigmentation of the lashes that are noticeably longer than before.  If you have tried false eyelashes or are forever caking on mascara in an effort to make your lashes look lush, LATISSE may be a good choice for you.

78% of patients in clinical trials saw significant improvement in lash growth and fullness after two months of using LATISSE, with full results occurring at 12 or 16 weeks. By prolonging the growth phase of your lashes, they are allowed to grow longer and fuller than they normally would.

LATISSE is applied topically once a day to the base of your upper eyelashes with a sterile, single-use-per-eye disposable applicator. With ongoing use, you will always have beautiful thick eyelashes. These amazing eyelash drops take just seconds to apply and they will give you flattering eyelashes without having to deal with applying and removing eye makeup. If you decide to stop using LATISSE the results will recede within two months.

Thick, luxurious lashes can make your eyes look bigger, brighter, and more youthful. At Fiala Aesthetics, we are happy that our patients have a simple, non-surgical alternative. If you are interested in enhancing the appearance of your eyelashes, please contact Fiala Aesthetics Medical Spa to schedule your initial consultation and let our experienced staff help you achieve all of your cosmetic goals.

LATISSE FAQs

How does LATISSE work?
LATISSE is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The solution affects the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle, however, the exact science behind how it works exactly is unknown.

Where do I apply LATISSE?
LATISSE solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of your eyelashes. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE except under the close supervision of your physician.

How do I apply LATISSE?
You will learn how to use LATISSE during your office visit so that you will feel comfortable using it at home. LATISSE is a treatment that is prescribed by your doctor, but that you apply yourself.  Each night at bedtime, you will first cleanse your face and eyelids.  Using the easy-to-use applicator, you will place a small amount of the LATISSE solution directly along the base of your upper eyelashes and a tissue is used to gently dab any excess from around the eye area.  If you wear contact lenses, you will be advised to remove them before applying LATISSE™ to your upper lashes and you can reinsert them again 15 minutes after you finish.

How long until I see results?
While you will not see an immediate effect from daily application of LATISSE but within two months you will begin to see your lashes growing in fuller and longer.  After 16 weeks of using the product as directed, you should see the full benefits of LATISSE.  In clinical trials, patients saw lashes that were 25% longer, 106% fuller and 18% darker than prior to treatment.

How long will LATISSE last?
The effects of LATISSE should continue as long as you use the product as directed. If you stop using LATISSE, your eyelashes will return to their natural growth patterns.  LATISSE is not a permanent solution; it works only while you use it.

What are the most common side effects involved with LATISSE?
Side effects from LATISSE are usually minimal but the most common side effects after using LATISSE solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which was reported in approximately 4% of patients.  LATISSE solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids.  If you have questions about these possible side effects or any other concerns, please ask during your consultation.

Is LATISSE safe?
Research proved that LATISSE is safe and effective for its intended use if used as prescribed.  LATISSE is not for everyone, however.  If you are taking antibiotics and heart medications, or have certain diseases or severe allergies, you may not be eligible for LATISSE.

Pregnant women and people with skin infections of the upper eyelids should not use LATISSE.  If you are using LUMIGAN® or other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE under the close supervision of your doctor.

If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your doctor’s advice concerning the continued use of the LATISSE solution.
