Announcement: Free HRUS Scan for Silicone Breast Implant Ruptures
Silicone breast implants do not empty when they rupture. Instead, they leak slowly, gradually changing shape and size, and ultimately impacting symmetry and form. The FDA recommends frequent MRI scanning –even as often as yearly – to ensure continued implant integrity.
MRI is the “gold standard” for imaging silicone breast implants to determine if they have ruptured. This type of imaging is, however, expensive and not reliably covered by insurance.
HRUS, high-resolution ultrasound, uses soundwaves to create detailed soft-tissue images without exposing the patient to radiation. Typically used for fetal imaging, HRUS has shown excellent accuracy at detecting silicone implant rupture.
