Non-Surgical Laser Treatments
One of the most powerful non-surgical techniques to reduce skin anomalies and restore enhanced aesthetics, laser treatments are a safe and effective way to restore a smooth and blemish-free appearance. Exceptionally precise, these treatments are used in specifically targeted areas where their application will be the most effective. Skin Conditions That Can be Treated with a Laser
Laser treatments can be designed to produce effective results in the treatment of common skin conditions including:
- Signs of Aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity
- Spots and Discoloration including birthmarks, sun spots, and pigmented lesions
- Scars caused by acne or trauma
- Textural and Color Issues such as texture irregularities and skin redness
- Common Skin Conditions like eczema and rosacea
- Vascular Treatments for spider veins and damaged blood vessels
Laser Skin Resurfacing, Skin Tightening, and Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing are three of the most important anti-aging aesthetic skin procedures that involve customized laser therapy. Some of these treatments may even reduce cellulite and other imperfections which can be discussed with you, based on your needs, during your initial consultation.
While laser skin resurfacing is generally considered safe and effective, not all types of treatment will be suitable for every patient. Depending on skin pigmentation and other individual factors, Dr. Fiala may recommend an alternative nonsurgical rejuvenation procedure if you are not a good candidate for laser treatment. Our Med Spa offers a variety of safe and effective treatments, enabling us to meet the varied needs of every person who walks through the doors of our Altamonte Springs office.
How does Laser Treatment Work?
Some laser treatments utilize a single wavelength source of intense and consistent light energy to stimulate collagen production deep in the skin, allowing for a gradual and natural-looking improvement in tone and texture. Others gently ablate surface layers of the skin, allowing for the removal of spots, scars, and similar imperfections. With both types of treatment, the laser energy reaches deeper skin tissue without the need for any surgical cuts or incisions, producing the desired skin aesthetics from the inside out.
Results with laser treatments can be significant, but the degree of improvement will vary according to the patient’s unique skin condition and the technology employed. Wrinkles and lines, for instance, can be reduced substantially with CO2 laser skin resurfacing, but may not respond as well to IPL. During your initial consultation, we will carefully assess your skin and listen to your concerns to help you choose the best option.
Outcomes following laser treatment may be more natural-looking and sustainable compared to surgical results. In comparison to cosmetic surgery procedures, laser treatments are often more precise, enabling damage to surrounding healthy tissue to be minimized, and helping reduce recovery time. Because treatment is nonsurgical, results are more gradual to appear – sometimes taking several months for complete improvement. However, there is very little recovery time after laser skin treatment, and results, once realized, can last for years.
Laser treatments for skin enhancement have been in use for decades as a part of various medical and aesthetic procedures. It is important to ensure that the laser skin solution is provided only by a qualified facility that is fully equipped and trained in every aspect of laser therapy.

Recovery
Recovery from laser skin resurfacing is relatively short. There will initially be some mild swelling and the polka dot pattern of laser dots may, at first, look like white spots in a grid formation. After a few days, these will turn brown and flake off. This is the point at which most people feel comfortable returning to work.
There can be some discomfort associated with fractional skin resurfacing. Often described as a mild to moderate sunburn sensation, discomfort can easily be dealt with through pain medications – either over-the-counter or prescribed as the situation requires. Discomfort typically lasts no more than a few days.
Depending on skin sensitivities, some patients may encounter blistering or crusting after treatment. This usually resolves within 10 to 14 days. We will provide you with both pre and postoperative skincare suggestions that can help improve results and minimize discomfort.
Fractional skin resurfacing may not be a good fit for patients with darker skin tones. For these patients, we commonly recommend an alternative such as the Venus Viva or Dermapen.
At Fiala Aesthetics, we offer the CO2, erbium, and YSGG-powered fractional ablative lasers, though we most often use the CO2 machine, as there is significantly less bleeding during treatment, and skin tightening results are typically more pronounced. Dr. Fiala will take the time to fully understand your needs and desires before suggesting the best fractional laser treatment for you.
