PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Injections
PRP is an abbreviation for “platelet-rich plasma,” a therapy that uses injections of a patient’s own concentrated platelets to improve the appearance of the skin. Platelets are a cell found naturally in your bloodstream which is full of helpful growth factor proteins. Research has shown that collecting and concentrating these platelets can be helpful in a number of medical areas.
PRP has been used for over 20 years for its wound healing properties in cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, sports medicine, podiatry, ENT, neurosurgery, dental and maxillofacial surgery, urology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery. It is well-tolerated by most healthy people.
If you are interested in learning what PRP can do for your hair and skin, please call Fiala Aesthetics at 407-339-3222 to schedule a consultation. Located in Altamonte Springs, we welcome patients from Orlando, Winter Park, and all surrounding areas of Florida.
What can PRP Treat?
In plastic surgery, there is good evidence that PRP is helpful for treating the early stages of hair loss in both men and women. If you have thinning or sparse hair, a series of PRP injections can make a visibly noticeable improvement!
PRP is also used as a treatment for:
- Facial wrinkles
- Crow’s feet
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Sun damage
- Acne damage
- Scaring
We now offer this treatment using a Best-In-Class, double-spin centrifuge system designed exclusively for PRP processing.
There is very little downtime with PRP. Most people are able to resume normal activities right away, though we may recommend you avoid certain activities for a few days. Swelling, bruising, and slight discomfort may accompany each treatment. These issues are normal and should subside on their own within a week.
How Many PRP Treatments Will I Need?
Typically, each treatment takes about 45 minutes and a series of three to four treatments, spaced at monthly intervals, is recommended for optimal results.
PRP treatments are individualized and may be different for each person. Results may vary.
Micro-needling can be done at the same session to help boost the results. PRP can also be done in conjunction with dermal fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments.
Am I a Good PRP Candidate?
PRP can be used to treat a number of cosmetic imperfections. If you are interested in improving the appearance and condition of your skin, you may be a good candidate for the procedure.
Not everyone is a candidate for treatment. We will work directly with you to help you determine which procedure will meet your needs.
