Recently, there has been a major problem with a contaminated steroid medication known as methylprednisolone acetate. Apparently, 3 lots of this preservative-free medication, from the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts, were contaminated with a fungus. Seems amazing, but new research from Denmark suggests that people who regularly use aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs- Alleve, Motrin, etc.) have a reduced risk for certain skin cancers – particularly squamous cell carcinomas and malignant melanomas.
